The LCS class was supposed to replace the frigates, patrol boats, and mine countermeasure ships. Independence Class (Tri-hull LCS): 418ft, 14ft, 44knįreedom Class (Mono-hull LCS): 378ft, 13ft, 47knĪvenger Class (Mine Countermeasures): 224ft, 15ft, 14knĬyclone Class (Coastal Patrol): 179ft, 8ft, 35kn Oliver Hazard Perry Class (Frigates): 445ft, 22ft, >29kn Ticonderoga Class (Cruisers): 567ft length, 34ft draft, 33 knotsĪrleigh Burke Class (Destroyers): 509ft, 31ft, >30kn The problem is that the Navy currently has quite a few surface combatants. Finish scrapping the OHP Frigates and then start retiring the Ticonderoga's and just build more Arleigh Burke's with the focus of improving them in 10 ship flights that has to be the most efficient way to help the navy. Stop building new LCS's and give the built and under construction ones to the Coast Guard for the anti drug stuff in the Caribbean. ![]()
